(FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT).

BUSH FIRE BRIGADE.
A public meeting was held on Saturday night, the 3rd inst., for the purpose of forming a Bush Fire Brigade. The meeting was attended, nearly all the chief landowners of the locality being present. Mr. W. E. Cunningham (Windermere) presided.

The Chairman, in opening the meeting, pointed out the necessity for co-operation. He admitted that no better work could be done, then had been done in the past by the residents, but thought that by having proper appliances the work could be lightened.

Mr. E. Brooks (Murringo) was much in favor of such an organisation. In order to show his sympathy with the movement, he would allow his tank, horses, and any appliances, which he had, to be used by the brigade, and would suggest that all expense be borne by those most interested.
Messrs. Jas J. O’Connor and S. Cramp, on behalf of the smaller holders, strongly supported the movement.

The meeting was adjourned for a fortnight in order to draw up rules, etc. Mr Farrington was appointed hon. sec., and Mr. R. Parkman. hon. treasurer.
